Ulaanbaatar is the premier and capital of Mongolia, one of the notable exotic tourist destinations in Asia. This majestic city was founded initially as a Buddhist monastic covenant in 1639 and has grown into a buzzing and colorful city since. Ulaanbaatar is notable for its legendary monasteries, such as the Choijin Lama and the Gandan Monastery both predating to early 19th century. Gandan is home to one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city - the huge golden statue of Migjid Janraisig. The Winter Palace of Bogd Khan is the last remaining palace in the city and stands as a keepsake of the old monarch that ruled Mongolia. This complex houses six temples with Bog Khan and has his family's possessions on display.

Getting to Mongolia from the United States is fairly easy, as you can take a number of affordable flights. Numerous airlines offer connecting flights from their US airport stations to the city of Ulaanbaatar. You can get cheap flights by booking your hotel and flight together. The Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) is conveniently located in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, a few miles from the scenic Bogdkhan National Park. Two airlines offer scheduled flights at Ulaanbaatar - Eznis Airways and Air China. Most flights from the United States to Ulaanbaatar will have a connecting flight switch from their airline carrier to either one of the two operating airlines.
